First of all,
I want it to be made clear that I am all for HIV and AIDS awareness programs and initiatives. As a matter of fact, I truly appreciate the efforts being made on a consistent basis by the many organizations across the country and even the world that participate in this very important endeavor. However, when a rap or hip hop station joins in on the effort, I sometimes scratch my head thinking, “They can’t be serious.” Here in the great city of Dallas one of its more popular rap stations, 97.9 FM the Beat, has been advertising heavily over it’s airwaves, it’s very own HIV awareness and prevention community service initiative. Hip Hop for HIV is obviously geared towards the youth and young adults who frequently listen to the programming at the station. I think directing HIV and AIDS prevention and awareness at our youth is very important today. As a matter of fact it has become an absolute necessity. According to recent statistics at UNICEF, in 2007 5.4 million young people between the ages of 15-24 were infected with HIV.
97.9FM the Beat has been urging its listeners to get tested at various hosting sites across the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex since May 29th with the final testing day to be on June 20th. Each person who gets tested gets a ticket to a free summer concert which happens to feature some of today’s popular rappers and RnB singers. This initiative is being co-sponsored by the likes of comedian and nationally syndicated radio personality Rickey Smiley, Mayor Pro-Tem Dwaine R. Caraway, The City of Dallas, Dallas County Community College District and the MLK, Jr. Family Clinic.
Ok. Here is my issue with this rap station and any rap station pushing an HIV/AIDS awareness initiative. The music that is mainly played at rap stations is totally the antithesis of love, safe sex, mature intimacy, self-respect, health and committed relationships and dignity. Rap stations play the theme music for wild and irresponsible sexual behavior. So, please excuse me for looking at what 97.9 the beat is trying to do as being hypocritical and a flat out contradiction. This situation is so “upside down” in theory that the very artists that they have invited to perform at the free summer concert on the 20th totally gives credence to my accusations of the efforts being a flat out contradiction.
Also, I have an issue with the Mayor Pro-Tem being associated with such outlandishness. If this is the person who has politically positioned himself to be the mayor of one this country’s most touted and celebrated cities, I think his supporters may need to take a second look at the person whom they have invested their trust. If he is not discerning enough to know that this was a not a good move politically or even intellectually, I guess we look forward to him co-sponsoring a community service project by pedophiles who want to feed and house homeless children. Mr. Caraway, I totally understand why you have connected yourself to this project. You want the youth vote. However, young people are associated with many other entities around the metroplex that don’t set out with the to purpose to mentally poison them such as the Urban League, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and other non-profit organizations that are in the business of empowering our young people.
The MLK Jr. Family Clinic is just trying to get numbers. Meaning this population of young people is very slow to get tested for HIV and AIDS and partnering with a radio station that has those numbers works well for them. Now, I am not sure what the clinic’s monetary compensation is for getting these particular numbers is but I do believe it is all about getting numbers.
I want all of the legitimate organizations who participate in the HIV/AIDS awareness effort to continue with raising awareness in society. As far as a rap station doing this, it is like a married preacher or minister who often spews sermons about being faithful to God and your spouse, when he leaves the church parking lot every Sunday with a prostitute who is an atheist.

Pregnant teens deserve ABORTIONS not baby showers !!
Pregnant teens should not be given baby showers !!
In the age of hyper-sexuality among our teenage boys and girls, I think it is irresponsible for the relatives of pregnant teens to throw a baby-shower for the teen that is expecting. If you look closely, you will rarely see a man in the same house where baby showers are being thrown for these un-wed, uneducated, financially strapped pregnant teens. You guessed it. I think that this promotes teen pregnancy.
I think that today’s society has made it very comfortable for young girls to have babies without having a pot to piss in financially, educationally, etc.Personally, I think that abortions should be in order for teenagers who get pregnant these days without proper support. Meaning, this child that’s having a child will have to fall on the mercy of tax payer dollars because she made poor choices with her body. It makes no sense to me when there are so many forms of birth control out here today.
I mean, really. Birth control pills, IUDs, foams, gels, and condoms seem to be collecting dust on the shelves of Walgreens and CVS stores across the country. Hell, there are plenty of free clinics and non-profit agencies, such as Planned Parenthood that are waiting to assist our teens in the prevention of unplanned pregnancies.

"I think single/never married women should NOT be awarded child support payments by a Judge"
I don’t believe that women who have never been married should be awarded child support by a judge in a court of law. I think it is unfair to force a man to take of a child financially through the courts. I believe only married women that are going through a divorce or a legal separation should be awarded child support payments through the court system. The court system was no where involved when the woman chose this particular man to have unprotected sex with regardless of what she thought his intentions were when they first met. If the two never said, “I do,” she should not be awarded child support by any court.
I say this because if I were to take a poll of all the women who scream for child support every minute of the day it seems, just to see who among them believes that Jesus died on a cross for their sins, I am more than sure that damn near every female polled would most likely raise her hand in the acceptance of that belief. Meaning, she is claiming to be a Christian. In the Christian belief system there is a set of Laws that is often referred to as the Ten Commandments. One of the commandments strictly forbids (fornication) or sex outside or before marriage.
Now, check this out. When one breaks a law, consequences usually follow. If I were caught speeding in a “no speeding” zone, my consequence for breaking that law is usually a ticket or jail time. I think that those who purposefully break their own Christian commandments should suffer the consequences of their actions like the rest of us. Her consequence could be that of a dead beat dad or a guy who just simply flakes out on her emotionally and financially. So, Rico, are you saying that a man does not have to financially support a child that he helped to bring into this world? My answer is no. I think that the young man has a moral and human obligation to take care of the human being that he helps to create with a woman.
However, I don’t think he should be forced to pay a dime through the courts. I think since the female chose to ignore her own religious laws, it all should fall on her if he does not want to participate in the rearing of the child or the financial support of the child. I know it sounds rough in an era where women have been having their way in the court system, but I think it is only fair. If she can’t use the same feminine wild she used to get him to sleep with her, to get him to be a father to her child, then it is tough. Maybe next time she will chose a better sperm donor.So, Rico, are you saying that the father gets off “scott free” without having any responsibility for his child? No. He will not be getting off “scott free.” The universe will deal with his lame ass. If you don’t believe me, ask Shaquille O’Neal’s biological father what happened when he attempted to re-introduce himself into Shaq’s life after he had made it big in the NBA. So, ladies, stop whining. Stop playing the victim when it is convenient for you.

Ladies, if he does not volunteer to put himself on child-support, you should stop bringing the courts into a mess you created. Just accept it as a loss and in the words of rapper, T.I., “Keep it moving!”Maybe the next time you will be more careful in choosing a man to have a baby with in this day and time. I plan to write my state law makers, congressman, and senator to plead with them begin writing legislation that will first require that a DNA test is taken on the baby immediately upon being born. No birth certificate should be signed until paternity has been established and even after paternity has been established, the man should still be given the option to whether or not he wants to sign the document. If he signs the birth certificate, this, in my opinion, should not be used as automatic leverage for a case for financial child support. By the way, the paternity test should be required for both married and un-married couples.

Lebron James Made to Look Like King Kong in Vogue Magazine
That is a damn shame! Why, Lord?
I was surfing web when I came across this article today. However, I had already seen the photo a short time ago and the image of King Kong actually entered my mind at that time. When I first saw how LeBron James was posed and how the white model was draped over his arm as if she was being carried off, I thought about the old King Kong movie. Low and behold, today, I come across this article on the internet asking the question whether or not the picture congers up old racial stereotypes.
Uh, yes!!!!
It seems that the more we are supposed to be making progress in this country and even in the world; racism rears its ugly head every time. Well, I am not shocked or too appalled by the photo because I have gotten sort of tired of being pissed about things that are done to us as a race by people who don’t like us! In a time when having lots of money is more important than having knowledge of self and racial pride, LeBron’s big, stupid ass and many others that happen to believe that being rich makes you equal and accepted, will continue to be made monkeys of in this society.
White Racism is not dead. I just wanted share this with those out there in the Black community who have had the nerve to equate being rich with being equal and accepted under this current system of white supremacy. I will continue to READ my books on post traumatic slave syndrome, white supremacy, black labor-white wealth, and listening to my Farrakhan and Malcolm X speeches on you tube. Kwanzaa Celebration Attacked in Memphis
Man, 2007 has been a year of hell for Black people in America. Let’s see. Young Black males and females have been brutalized by police departments across the country. President George W. Bush and his band of his conservative brothers in Washington DC as well as states across the nation have rolled full steam ahead in their efforts to dismantle damned near every civil liberty and societal gains ever made by people of color in this country. I believe that he will fight and scratch until his very last day in office to make sure that what he started as President will continue long after he is no longer the President of the United States. The Republican right wingers and the conservative extremists in society have made sure that they have left no stone unturned when it comes to tuning back the racial hands of time. This is on a national level.
Recently, in the city of Memphis, a White, Christian, Conservative politician by the name of Chris Thomas, who serves as the city probate court clerk, reared his ugly racist head by waging an all out war on the cultural celebration of Kwanzaa. He is claiming that an annual Kwanzaa celebration that is hosted by another politician in the city, Shelby County Board Commissioner, Henri R. Brooks (an African American) discriminates against Christians and Jews in the city. You see. Thomas is objecting to Ms. Brooks holding the celebration in the chamber of the County Commission. The reason Ms. Brooks wants to hold the celebration in commission chambers is because The Memphis Pink Palace Museum wanted to charge the tax payers $300.00 and she did not think it was fair to us as tax payers! Way to go, Commissioner Brooks!
Today, I was listening to a local radio talk-show in Memphis, “Real Talk” with Jennings Bernard http://www.memphisrealtalk.com/ when former city councilman and county commissioner, Shep Wilbun, called into the show and stated, “This is an old issue. As a county commissioner, I have held a Kwanzaa celebration in the county commission chambers, the county school board auditorium, and in the Shelby County Building. I think this is an old issue that is being re-hashed by Chris Thomas because of his possible bid for Shelby County Mayor in 2010. I think that he is attempting to gain brownie points with a certain constituency out in the county.”
Chris Thomas is of the personal belief that Kwanzaa is a religious celebration and stated that groups that practice the religions of Christianity and Judaism are not permitted to hold religious events in public facilities. He is basically crying foul in this regard. I am pretty sure that Chris Thomas does not include Blacks in his brand of Christianity. In my opinion, this has nothing to do with whether or not Kwanzaa is a religious celebration or not. I agree with Shep Wilbun. I think Chris Thomas is playing the race card in order to gain brownie points. I think that he is a candidate that has been re-elected because he is white and not because he has done a good job as probate court clerk. He is really showing his true colors (no pun intended) in this situation. Chris, if you want to be the new county mayor in the future, this is not the way you go about the process of becoming the next mayor of Shelby County.
Attacking Kwanzaa is a very poor start, Mr. Thomas. There are so many other real issues in the city that you can attack or even address that would possibly get this voter’s attention. However, if dirty, racial politics has been your strategy all along, I guess you would not be familiar with good old fashioned campaigning. Your argument over whether or not Kwanzaa is religious in its make-up is sad and weak. I am sure the current Shelby County, Mayor AC Wharton, and any judge you cry and moan to will see it the same way. You should be ashamed of yourself for having such bigoted and racist beliefs. Christian? I don’t think so!
This latest attack on Black or African American culture has really pissed me off. Every time you turn on the television, Black people and Black culture is being attacked. It is as if certain segments of Caucasian America have laid down the racial gauntlet and are held bent on putting Niggers back in their place. In the city of Memphis, TN racial division is nothing new. A certain segment of Caucasian Memphis wants to see Blacks removed from the city and this is not an exaggeration. People like Chris Thomas don’t bother me because as history has taught me, his behavior is to be expected. However, I am always concerned about the seemingly intellectual stagnation of Blacks in the city of Memphis and across the country. It is as if we (as a race) are just sitting around waiting for a Jesus figure to come and save us from these wicked racial attacks.
I know that all Caucasians in Memphis and in America don’t think and believe as George W. Bush or Chris Thomas, but it would be nice if the ones that claim to not have a racist bone in their body would speak up every once in a while when a negative representative of their community or race dares to speak-out on their behalf. Also, some Black people in the city of Memphis need to get up off of their frightened, lazy, Christian asses to speak up for themselves for a change when these racial attacks arise! Hell, Henri Brooks can’t do all of the fighting by herself! In closing, I want to take you back to the radio I listened to today, “Real talk” with Jennings Bernard. Today’s guest host was veteran journalist and radio talk show host, Leon Gray. Leon is a widely known in Memphis for his writing and talk show persona. Some may even describe him as being too controversial for Memphis radio because of his unique brand of talk that assures that the intellect in all of us will be challenged and even held hostage at times whenever we engage in dialogue with him over the air about a topic of the day. It doesn’t matter if the topic is local, national, or international; Leon is ready for all callers.
I recalled Leon because as I listened to him discuss the latest attack on Kwanzaa by city probate court clerk, Chris Thomas, with callers, Leon made a statement that struck a chord with me, culturally, racially and even as a man. Towards the end of the conversation and at the end of the show, Leon made this statement, “It is time for a racial war! Let’s have at it! When we have at it, let the better man win. I am not talking about with guns and violence and all of that. I am talking about putting it all on the table; laying it all out between the races.” Amen, Brother, Leon! I, too, think it is past time that we open up the history books to have this intellectual stand-off with people like Chris Thomas. I think this exercise would help to kill the false of sense of racial superiority that many Caucasians in the city of Memphis and across the world feel. Most importantly, I think this exercise would finally help to remove the psychological shackles of fear and inferiority in the minds of so many Black people in the city of Memphis and across this nation when comes to how we view ourselves under this system of white supremacy.
Hmm, somehow Leon, I don’t think that many of the Black preachers in the city of Memphis would go for this historical stand-off between the races. Sadly, many of them have profited handsomely in the city off of the ignorance, fear, and sense of inferiority in the minds of so many Black people that live in Memphis. Well, if any who is reading this article plans to be in Memphis during the Christmas holidays, be sure to make contact with Commissioner Henri Brooks to find out where the Kwanzaa celebration is going to be held and maybe I will see you there.

The Mayor of Memphis Threatened to kick my ASS!!

“I’ll kick yo ass!” is what the newly re-elected mayor of the city of Memphis yelled at me from his mini-van as I stood holding my R. Kelly protest signs outside of the new Westin Hotel in downtown Memphis. For the past three years, I have peacefully demonstrated outside of R. Kelly’s concert whenever he would come to Memphis to perform. The protesting of R. Kelly’s concerts came about after a video surfaced a few years back that showed him (Kelly) having sex with a 14 year old girl. The video also shows R. Kelly urinating on the minor in the middle of the sex act. This past Sunday night on December 9th around 8:30 pm or so, the mayor, Willie Herenton, walked out of the Westin Hotel bar called the Daily Grill, and headed towards his car with a couple of guests he had with him. We all know that the mayor is no stranger to liquor spots throughout the city, so I was not surprised to see him walk of the establishment.
Well, as he was pulling off in his mini-van, he slowed up to read my R. Kelly protest sign, which read, “Some people in Memphis love to support crooked politicians, preachers, and RnB Pedophiles!”
I believe that he read all the up to the crooked politician part of sign and became really guilty or extremely insecure because he immediately took offense to my sign. The mayor quickly rolls down his window and yells, “Are you talking bout me?” I just looked at him without saying anything. Then, he yells, “I know you ain’t talkin’ bout me!” I responded, “Sir, it is just a sign.” He responds, “I know you ain’t talkin’ bout me. I’ll kick yo ass!” When he said that, I went into shock. I could not believe that I was being threatened with an ass kicking by the CEO of the city of Memphis. Oh, he was not done. He yells again, “You talking bout me?” “I know you ain’t talkin’ bout me. I’ll kick yo ass!” This time I responded in anger, “Yes, I am talking about you!” By this time he was making the left turn to leave. Even in his making a left turn, he was still yelling, “I’ll kick yo ass!” This is when I responded very loudly, “The hit dog hollered, Mayor!”
I could not believe what had just happened. I was just threatened with bodily harm by the Mayor of the city of Memphis. Wow! That was so crazy! That dude is obviously crazy!
There was a young, Caucasian female sitting outside of the bar drinking a beer that witnessed the entire exchange in shock and amazement. When the mayor drove off she said, “Oh my God! I can’t believe he just did that!” “How ‘hood’ was that!?” Then, one of the Memphis Police Officers that was directing traffic for the concert walked over in shock and asked, “What did he just say?” We both explained to him that the Mayor of Memphis had told me that he was going to kick my ass because of what he read on my protest sign.
Well, I have to say that I blame the lower level thinking aspect of Black Memphis for this guy. I blame most of Black Memphis for creating this particularly ignorant, disrespectful, thuggish, and uncouth Mayor. A large section of Black Memphis tends to promote and even condones this form of misbehavior in its religious and political leadership. The anger that I felt as the mayor threatened me quickly turned to disappointment once I began to replay the incident in my mind. When I looked into his eyes as he spoke to me his broken English, I saw an old man who was essentially clinging on to dear life. I saw a man who felt that he had to prove his relevance and even his masculinity to a much younger man who was only standing out there that night exercising his right to free speech and the freedom to protest a sick a pedophile.
Has the black community bragged so much on how physically tough this Mayor is and about how he punched-out some judge in a bar back in the 1980’s that he (Willie Herenton) had begun to believe his own hype? All I know is that this mayor needs counseling for his many issues. You have to be mentally ill or just plain stupid to behave the way he did as the sitting mayor of a major metropolitan city. Sadly, some people in Memphis will read this article and wish that the mayor had gotten out of his car that night and attempted to make good on his threat against a much younger, quicker, and stronger man. I am glad he did not get out of his car. It was bad enough that this elder (who is supposed to be extending words of wisdom to me, the younger man) chose to react verbally abusive towards me out of old age insecurity.
Wait, he had just walked out of the bar. Hell, he was probably drunk. That would have been even more disappointing because drunk driving kills so many people each year. I can’t but help but wonder If the mayor would have respected my right to freedom of speech as well as my right to protest had I been a man that was much larger in size, had a few of my die-hard friends with me, or if I was white.

Then, he yells, “I know you ain’t talkin’ bout me!” I responded, “Sir, it is just a sign.” He responds, “I know you ain’t talkin’ bout me. I’ll kick yo ass!” When he said that, I went into shock. I could not believe that I was being threatened with an ass kicking by the CEO of the city of Memphis. Oh, he was not done. He yells again, “You talking bout me?” “I know you ain’t talkin’ bout me. I’ll kick yo ass!” This time I responded in anger, “Yes, I am talking about you!” By this time he was making the left turn to leave. Even in his making a left turn, he was still yelling, “I’ll kick yo ass!” This is when I responded very loudly, “The hit dog hollered, Mayor!”
I could not believe what had just happened. I was just threatened with bodily harm by the Mayor of the city of Memphis. Wow! That was so crazy! That dude is obviously crazy!
There was a young, Caucasian female sitting outside of the bar drinking a beer that witnessed the entire exchange in shock and amazement. When the mayor drove off she said, “Oh my God! I can’t believe he just did that!” “How ‘hood’ was that!?” Then, one of the Memphis Police Officers that was directing traffic for the concert walked over in shock and asked, “What did he just say?” We both explained to him that the Mayor of Memphis had told me that he was going to kick my ass because of what he read on my protest sign.
Well, I have to say that I blame the lower level thinking aspect of Black Memphis for this guy. I blame most of Black Memphis for creating this particularly ignorant, disrespectful, thuggish, and uncouth Mayor. A large section of Black Memphis tends to promote and even condones this form of misbehavior in its religious and political leadership. The anger that I felt as the mayor threatened me quickly turned to disappointment once I began to replay the incident in my mind. When I looked into his eyes as he spoke to me his broken English, I saw an old man who was essentially clinging on to dear life. I saw a man who felt that he had to prove his relevance and even his masculinity to a much younger man who was only standing out there that night exercising his right to free speech and the freedom to protest a sick a pedophile.
Has the black community bragged so much on how physically tough this Mayor is and about how he punched-out some judge in a bar back in the 1980’s that he (Willie Herenton) had begun to believe his own hype? All I know is that this mayor needs counseling for his many issues. You have to be mentally ill or just plain stupid to behave the way he did as the sitting mayor of a major metropolitan city. Sadly, some people in Memphis will read this article and wish that the mayor had gotten out of his car that night and attempted to make good on his threat against a much younger, quicker, and stronger man. I am glad he did not get out of his car. It was bad enough that this elder (who is supposed to be extending words of wisdom to me, the younger man) chose to react verbally abusive towards me out of old age insecurity.
Wait, he had just walked out of the bar. Hell, he was probably drunk. That would have been even more disappointing because drunk driving kills so many people each year. I can’t but help but wonder If the mayor would have respected my right to freedom of speech as well as my right to protest had I been a man that was much larger in size, had a few of my die-hard friends with me, or if I was white.

R. Kelly and Black People
The RnB Molester is Returning to Memphis and Most of Black Memphis Can’t seem to wait.

RnB singer, R. Kelly, is returning to Memphis on December 9th for a concert at the FedEx Forum. For the past three years or so, I have been protesting and boycotting the singer and self proclaimed “pied piper of RnB” because of a video that came out a few years that showed him having sex with a 14 year old girl. This sick dude also pissed on the little girl as she was performing oral sex on him. I am convinced that the majority in Black America have seen the video because the of the mere fact that the video circulated in more Black households, barber shops, beauty shops, and on more computer screens than the recently bootlegged copy of the latest Denzel Washington movie, “American Gangster.” Still, after three years there seems to be reluctance in the Black community to demand that R. Kelly admit his wrong-doing and seek help for his obvious problem with having sex with under-aged girls. Why is this? Do the majority of Black people not care about what happens to little black children as a whole? Or does R. Kelly have to have sex with their 14 year old daughters individually in order for this to be an issue? Does R. Kelly have to be seen having sex and pissing on a little 14 year old white girl in a video in order to get a reaction out of us as a community? A race?

Hell, if he is found guilty in a court of law for this, he should be punished. Let’s see. There was Allyah whom he married when she was only15 years old. Next, there was the 17 year old back-up dancer that accused him of sexual harassment, which was settled out of court. Then, there is the video taped evidence of him having a “special liking” for an under-aged young girl. Let’s not forget R. Kelly’s own brother coming out with the revelation of him having sex with his own 12 year old niece. Individually, we can all choose to believe or disbelieve the brother’s accusations. However, the Allyah marriage, the back-up dancer incident, and the sex with the 14 year old girl are all documented facts that you can’t deny. Sadly, many in the Black community have chosen to turn a blind eye and deaf ear to it all because they love R. Kelly’s music (which has not been very creative or good in the past 10 years).
It has been reported that R. Kelly did not have a great childhood. It was reported that he was neglected often by his then, alcoholic mother, and sexually molested by a male member of his own family. People, all of this tends to lead to inappropriate behavior in adulthood. Three years ago, I wanted him jailed for what he does (freak under-aged girls) when the video came out. Today, I am not so stern in wanting him to be jailed. I want him to admit that he has a problem and make a vow to seek the appropriate help. What I mean by seeking appropriate help is not sitting down a preacher, minister, pastor, bishop, or Imam and repenting to the Lord or Allah. I mean real clinical mental help with a licensed or certified mental health professional. I would recommend a Licensed Clinical Social Worker that has experience in working with adults with sexual issues that are derived from negative emotional and sexual experiences from childhood. If he could find a Black man with a LCSW that would be great! I also want him to also apologize to the Black community that has supported him over his fifteen year music career for lying and even refusing to take responsibility for his actions over the past three years. Hell, even Akon said he was sorry about a situation that he obviously had no control over. He even made an apology song. R. Kelly’s sick ass won’t even do that!
I can’t help at times, but blame many Black women for R. Kelly’s un-repentive behavior in this matter. Whenever, I have protested outside of an R. Kelly concert in Memphis, TN, hundreds of women would stroll pass me (most times with a young teen daughter by their side) and yell statement at me like, “Leave R. Kelly alone!” “That’s not him on that tape!” “Are you free of sin or sin free?” “Why you protestin’ him” or “You juss mad cuz he making money!” Okay, to be fair, I will share some of the statements by some of the Black men that have walked pass me as I held up my protest signs. They would often yell, “Stop hatin’ on dat man for making money!” “You crazy dan a mutha-fukah!” “Da mane ain’t been found guilty of nuthin in a cote uh law!” or “Mane, what white people payin’ you to do dis?” Needless to say, I was hurt and amazed by every question and accusation. I have always thought I was standing up for the protection of our children whenever I protested this obvious molester.
I was so disappointed at the large number of black women with their young daughters in tow that rushed to get in line to be entertained by the pissing, pied pedophile, of RnB. I also thought, “Wow, I hope that this is not all that I have to choose from to be a wife and a mother of my future children in the city of Memphis!” “Can I at least find a Black woman with morals in the city of Memphis?” Also, there is a large Christian population of Blacks that often rush by me to get into the concert. It is interesting because, R. Kelly usually comes to Memphis to perform concerts on Sunday nights. Memphis is a very church oriented city (over 3000 churches) and the majority of Black Memphis attends church on a regular basis. I am always amazed at the number of people who attend worship service that morning and get entertained by R. Kelly that night. It boggles the mind.
Anyway, I will be back on post this year with my protest sign in hand, standing up for the protection of children and demanding that R. Kelly seeks help. I don’t plan to do anything differently from the previous years. Anyone who is down for the cause is more than welcomed to join me in the protest. However, is it only an invite and not a request. You can meet me at the FedEx Form at 5:00 pm on Sunday December the 9th. Dress warm because it will be a chilly evening and I don’t necessarily mean the weather temperature. The fans of R. Kelly tend to act chilly towards anyone for protesting their favorite music making molester.

Does Oprah have a point?
What's up Everybody!?
Oprah made an interesting statement in the news recently when critics asked her, "Why build a school in Africa when the inner city of Chicago can use several new schools?" Her response, "I became frustrated whenever I would visit the American schools and I would ask the children what it was that they really wanted and they would often respond, "Ipods!, Xboxes, or name brand sneakers!" When I asked the children in South Africa what they wanted, they responded, "We want uniforms to wear to school."
In essence, she was comparing the seemingly lack of value in education in the minds of many Black children in America to that of Black children in Africa who tend to value the importance of a good education.
Would you compare her comments to that of an angry Bill Cosby or does she have a valid point?

Black Women Have Been Made Fools Of in this Society!
Fall 2005
I wrote this thought because I wanted to share not only a male's perspective on the topic, but a Black man's perspective. I am 36 years old, happily single, no children, college educated, professionally trained as a social worker/alcohol and drug therapist and an aspiring youth motivational speaker. I have never been on the criminal justice roll nor do I mistreat women. I date here and there when the spirit or my mojo hits me. I have the utmost respect for Black women and I truly believe that God sent them to the earth exclusively for me, a Black man. However, something has gone terribly wrong in the relationship department as it relates to Black men and women. I have heard all of the arguments, opinions, debates over cocktails, and even heard prayers that have been sent up to God for the explanation for why it appears that Black men and Black women have fallen out of love and have even become mortal enemies for the most part.
You see. I am concerned because I hope to seriously date and marry an Afrikan woman some day and have Afrikan children. Moreover, I hope to build a strong foundation with the right Afrikan woman in the future. Sadly, that future seems far away for me because of the state of confusion we seem to be in as a community. You see. We have many women scratching and clawing at Black men while many Black men are pimping and exploiting Black women. The rest of us are just who have been caught in the middle of this madness, are now running for emotional and spiritual cover due to feelings of uncertainty within the dating pools. I don't like being this way. I don't like seeing our people in this situation. I hate reading letters by Black women who say that good Black men are hard to find when I know that we are every where, even at the bus stop heading to work. Maybe if many of them would stop dating inmates on visitation day and sleeping with the whore-mongering preachers that have wives and even male lovers on the side, they would see us.
I think Black women in America have been sold a fake bill of goods when it comes to her Black men in the system we live under (racism/white supremacy). I want all of the independent, empowered, self assured, financially secured, but lonely, angry, and annoyed Black women to take a little trip with me for a moment in order that I may show her how she has been "played." I will keep this quick. Under the system of racism/white supremacy (Dr. Frances Cress Welsing-The Isis Papers) there is only one man-the white man. The rest of the men (which happen to be of color) are considered to be less than a man. This is his philosophy. Not only is this his philosophy, he created a system of laws to ensure this. According to the US Constitution and the Afrikan will never be equal to him under this system. So, for the past 445 years, since the days of physical slavery (Slave Codes) the days of Jim Crow (Segregation Laws) the Black male and Black female have been under attack.
I have always wondered what women meant whenever they would announce that they are empowered or independent because whenever they would say this, I would often wonder why was there a need for them to announce it to the world when they don't really seem to be happy or content. I don't recall any Black men in history who created laws that suppressed their rights as human beings. I don't recall any Black men in history who subjugated women to a lower class of people because of their gender. As I recall in American history we were both being subjugated, suppressed, and made to be and feel less than human in this country and across the globe.
The difference is the Black female of the past 20 years has been empowered not by God, but by the white male to be his second in command. Meaning, she has been empowered to be all that she can be systematically, while Black boys and Black men are still under direct attack. This has led to two occurrences: More Black men, in our struggle to be men, have been relegated to making a living or hustling out side of the system because there are so many steep stipulations that have been placed on our backs in order for us to be accepted in this system in the corporate and academic/scholastic sectors. It is as if we are being required to be "lady like" in order to be accepted. Unfortunately, quite a few of us "Black men" have been broken down emotionally and mentally beyond repair. The second occurrence is Black women have been empowered or conditioned by their white male and lesbian white female counterparts to take on the role as the "man" in this society and in her community, thus, creating confusion. You see. In every relationship, there is a masculine and a feminine aspect of the union.
According to this society, the man or masculine entity is usually the head of the house hold and a lot of times take the lead in the relationship. However, how can this be when the men are being systematically driven to take on the feminine role and women are being empowered to take on the masculine role? There are more Black women who make more money than Black men in this system of white male dominated and controlled economics. However, the white male continues to enjoy a wide gap in money earned over his white female counter part. He understands that in order for a man to head a house hold and be the bread winner, he has to earn a comfortable living. Thus, giving his woman the option to be a stay home wife/mom or obtain employment if she wants to. Strategically, Black men are not viewed as men in this system forcing him work twice as hard to economically sustain a wife and children.
When Black men were forced out of the home even on the plantation during chattel slavery, this left the female in a vulnerable position to fend for herself. She did what she had to do to maintain what was left of the family. Even today, the cycle continues. However, as empowered as most Black women claim to be, I don't understand why they don't know this history and understand it. Hell, Black women are in all aspects of society from corporate to government. They have been "allowed" to excel in all aspects of life instead of being relegated to a few careers like dancing, rapping, and sports. Black women are in positions of power, yet they are powerless in knowing how to regain their families and keep a man. Most Black women are harmless and are viewed as non-threatening conformists under this system. So, thinking that one day she will turn on the white male who empowered her for what he has done to her man is the farthest thought from my mind. However, I can't help but wonder if there are any Black women out there in the system who would even think about cracking the door open just a little to let a brother in.
These are a few of the many games that have been played on the psyche of Black people.
Dr. Jawanza Kunjufu wrote a four part series in his classic, "Countering the conspiracy to destroy Black Boys." Dr. Frances Cress Welsing also wrote a series of books that would explain why Black people have fallen out of love and how it was done. Also, Dr. Julia Hare has written books to explain how the Black family has been manipulated. The answer to why so many Black women say that they can't seem to find a "good Black man" is right in front of them.
Unfortunately, those same empowered, independent, "Blessed and Highly Favored" females don't read meaningful books. They have allowed fags like J.L. King, E. Lynn Harris, Tyler Perry, corporate white men, and angry, old, Black men-hating, fat women along with the women who marry obviously gay men, but claim they did not know later on after the fact upon hearing the whispers about him being gay to preach to them about Black men.
So, until we start realizing who the open enemy of the Black family is and will always be, some Black women will continue to ask stupid questions like, "Why can't I find a good Black Man?"

Can a woman do what a man does and still remain a "Lady?"
I was listening to an old school RnB song recently when I heard the statement, "A Woman can't do what a man does and still remain a lady." I thought this was a very profound statement coming from the female singer of the song. Currently, we are living in the days of the empowered and independent woman. I think both of these are great. I think it is cool that women or shall I say, "Sistas are doing it for themselves." As a man, I appreciate the today's female's earning potential. You see. This means that as an independent woman who may think she does not need a man because of the amount of money she makes or the socio-political strides she is making these days, I don't have to pick up the check at dinner. LOL !! Just playing, ladies. Well.....maybe not.
The race is still on for equality, which I think is cool too. However, I just want women of today to be prepared for the outcome or consequences once they sign up for a particular race against men.I will just skip the formalities and get straight to the point. Today’s women from age 18 to 58 are still attempting to compete with men in the bedroom. Meaning, women don't want to accept the double standard as it relates to sex. A man can sleep with as many women as he likes in his lifetime and still end up with a decent, wholesome woman that loves him and respects him as a man on his wedding day. If a woman is known to have slept with 5 men in five months, she is known as a tramp, easy, a slut, and even a whore. Now, I know this sucks, but it is the reality.
No self respecting man would seriously date and even mary a woman that has been ridden more times than a horse at a rodeo. A woman that has been labeled looser than shoe laces on a two year old has less of a chance of finding a decent and wholesome man to stand beside her on her wedding day. She would more than likely have to move out of her present city in order to get a fresh start at being looked at as a decent woman by unsuspecting suckers in her new city or state of residence.I would even go so far as to say that a man can have children and still end up with a good woman. A woman with two or more children out of wedlock is lucky to find any man that would look past the "evidence" of her trifling ways. These are not my words. I am just repeating public opinion.
A woman's stock drops after every child she has out of wedlock. So, it would be in her best interest to stop at one child if she plans to nab Mr. Right. Single women with more than one child usually end up with a lot of Mr. Right nows. There aren’t too many men out there that take these women seriously. However, the sex is off da chain!! They are usually prime candidates for a man's sexual release and enjoyment.A man with more than one woman or child is looked at by a lot of women as the man to snag. Women see him as having something special in his pants that they must discover and even attempt to conquer. It is sick, but it is a reality for many women. So, the question remains. Can a woman do what a man's does and still remain a lady?

She would more than likely have to move out of her present city in order to get a fresh start at being looked at as a decent woman by unsuspecting suckers in her new city or state of residence.I would even go so far as to say that a man can have children and still end up with a good woman. A woman with two or more children out of wedlock is lucky to find any man that would look past the "evidence" of her trifling ways. These are not my words. I am just repeating public opinion.
A woman's stock drops after every child she has out of wedlock. So, it would be in her best interest to stop at one child if she plans to nab Mr. Right. Single women with more than one child usually end up with a lot of Mr. Right nows. There aren’t too many men out there that take these women seriously. However, the sex is off da chain!! They are usually prime candidates for a man's sexual release and enjoyment.A man with more than one woman or child is looked at by a lot of women as the man to snag. Women see him as having something special in his pants that they must discover and even attempt to conquer. It is sick, but it is a reality for many women. So, the question remains. Can a woman do what a man's does and still remain a lady?
